DM/A Welcomed Esther Landis as a Landscape Architectural Intern

In June 2023, DM/A welcomed Esther Landis as a Landscape Architectural Intern.

She graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 2019 and is currently completing her undergraduate at Temple University for Landscape Architecture with a Concentration in Horticulture.

Esther was a Secondary English Education Major for her first two years at Temple until she desired something more hands-on. She began looking into Horticulture and stumbled across Landscape Architecture which piqued her interest. Esther enjoys the creativity, structure, and problem-solving in her new Major.

She hopes this internship will broaden her understanding of the nitty gritty parts in this field. “In school, we get plenty of exposure to the creative side…but not as much to the arguably ‘boring’ side,” she shared, “but [it’s] as much part of the job as the creative side!”

Esther volunteers for Temple Theaters Side Stage – a student run group – and joins the annual Temple Honors Appalachia service trip to Kentucky organized by the Temple Honors Program.

Her favorite place is the driver’s seat of her van, windows down, listening to her favorite music while road tripping. Esther plays violin with the Allthetlowers indie rock/punk rock band (On Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0Xuwfh0b3rx4lRl0h1TwBS). Her perfect workday includes waking up early enough to drink coffee and make breakfast before work, being productive at work with time to chat and laugh with her coworkers and leaving in time to go for a walk and cook a pasta dinner. She takes care of Ramona (dog) and Etta (cat).
