DM/A is a multi-disciplinary firm providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, planning, geology, and surveying services for public and private clients.
Our Team
Our strength lies in the collaboration of our experienced staff. Each project team includes a principal-in-charge, a project manager, and supporting professionals tailored to the specific needs of the project.

President | Managing Principal
Jim has been President and Managing Principal of the firm since 2014. He joined the firm in 1991 after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Messiah University. Prior to becoming President, he served in various roles with the company, including Project Engineer, Director of Civil Engineering, Vice President, and CFO.
Jim is responsible for the overall guidance and financial management of the firm, including business development, proposal preparation, and contract negotiation. He has served on the board of directors for a number of non-profit organizations and volunteers his time with several organizations providing engineering assistance for projects in developing countries.

Principal
Bill joined DM/A in 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York.
Mr. Swiernik is responsible for all phases of land planning and design including concept development, construction drawing preparation and project management. He became a principal of the firm in 2006 and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the League of American Bicyclists.

Principal | Director of Municipal Services
Scott joined the firm in 1998 and became a principal in 2007. He also serves as Director for DM/A’s municipal services group which caters to our planning and public sector client base.
Mr. Hain received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware.
Mr. Hain serves on the Lititz Borough Authority and on the Lititz Borough Park Board. He also volunteers time with the Lititz VFW Auxiliary and the Lititz Chooses Love Food Pantry.

Principal | Director of Engineering
Doug became a principal with DM/A in 2014. He joined the firm in 2000 after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Penn State University.
As Director of Engineering for the firm, he oversees the technical design for all projects, including stormwater management, floodplain analysis, erosion and sediment pollution control plans and coordination of state and county permitting.
He serves as Chairman of the Lititz Borough Zoning Hearing Board and is also actively involved in the Boy Scouts.

Associate | Professional Land Surveyor
Zach joined the firm in 2014 and became and associate in 2025. He conducts surveying services for the company in the field and office including boundary, topographic, as-built and land development surveys.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Beyler holds a Bachelor of Science in Surveying Engineering from Penn State University, State College, PA.
He is a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors and the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors.

Associate | Senior Project Manager
Brent joined the firm in 2017 and became and associate in 2025. He serves as a Senior Project Manager working on residential, commercial, and industrial land development projects.
He is a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. Mr. Detter is also a registered landscape architect in Pennsylvania and a LEED Green Associate.
Additionally, he holds a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification and provides all of DM/A’s aerial-related services. Mr. Detter serves as an a member of the East Hempfield Township Planning Commission.

Associate | Project Manager
Nick joined DM/A’s municipal services group in 2017 and became and associate in 2025. He serves as a member of our Municipal Services Group. He is a graduate of Millersville University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Geography, with a concentration in Environmental Studies, and a Minor in Land Use and GIS.
Nick is certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners. He is a member of the American Planning Association (APA) and the APA Pennsylvania Chapter.

Associate | MS4 Program Manager | Landscape Architect
Charity joined DM/A in 2009 and became an associate in 2025. She serves as a member of our Municipal Services Group.
She received a Bachelor in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. Charity is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the PA Association of Sewage Enforcement Officers. Locally, she serves on the Lititz Borough Zoning Hearing Board, as well as the Lititz Borough Park Board. Additionally, Charity volunteers her time with the Lititz VFW Auxiliary and the Lititz Chooses Love Food Pantry.

Associate | Senior Project Manager
Todd joined DM/A in 2003 and is responsible for project management and technical design for projects involving stormwater management, floodplain analysis, erosion and sediment pollution control and street design, including utility layout.
He received his Associates Degree in Specialized Technology Design Drafting from York Technical Institute and his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Point Park College. He is a member of the Millersville Lodge #476 Freemasons.
