Project Summary

The continuing deterioration of an existing stone arch bridge on Old Colebrook Road forced East Donegal Township officials to post weight restrictions and limit traffic on the bridge. The township called on DM/A for bridge design and construction document preparation, and to assist in the application for a transportation grant to help fund the replacement of the bridge. DM/A also obtained water obstruction permits from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army corps of Engineers.

To achieve the Township’s goal of maintaining the aesthetic character of the original stone arch structure, DM/A worked with the Township officials to incorporate a stamped stone pattern and pigmented concrete into the bridge design to simulate natural construction materials.
