Caleb is a Professional Engineer
We’re pleased to announce Caleb Comeaux, PE acquired his Professional Engineer license on May 1, 2024!
He joined our firm in 2020 and is now serving as a Project Engineer. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a Civil Concentration from Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
We interviewed Caleb to understand what this means for him and his new role as Project Engineer.
Why did you want to get licensed?
Because it was a clear next step to take for the stormwater management work that I do for land development projects.
What does this license allow you to do now?
I can now continue the project work that I’ve been doing, but with greater autonomy. I can independently carry out the many projects’ tasks for which I have a high degree of confidence while continuing to learn from the more experienced professional engineers that surround me.
What top 3 essential skills have you relied on to get where you are today?
Spatial reasoning, professional communication, and efficient problem solving.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I get to create elegant solutions that account for stormwater management and E&S mitigation while optimizing site layouts to mesh with others’ design components. Each project represents a new puzzle to solve.
What advice do you have for someone considering becoming a Professional Engineer?
First, make sure it will be a valuable asset for the career future that you are pursuing – a PE license…isn’t always the most important professional credential. Then, I would say to enjoy the process of learning and preparing to satisfy all requirements for obtaining your license. You will spend a lot of time building out the necessary knowledge base to obtain your license, and you will make it to the other side with less stress and more enjoyment if you navigate the process as more than just a means to an end.
Where do you see the industry going in the future?
With respect to development within southcentral PA – I expect a prioritization of redevelopment over new development and a continued increase in development density as fewer open lots are available to be developed.
Please join us in congratulating Caleb on this achievement!
